We Grew Apart

2019-2020

I started having a hard time recognizing myself in old photographs. I have changed so much that I can not see myself in them. I began wondering what it would look like if photographs could continue to grow and change. Would they grow over themselves and conceal the old selves? To create the images in this series I begin with photographs of myself and I slowly build over my body using adhesive fabric printed using an inkjet printer. These photo-growths are simultaneously generative and destructive–like fungi they grow over pieces of me that are no longer alive.
